“We attract people who like natural things, which is a slightly different angle. Then, as they walk around, they realise that there is hardly any plastic. But it’s not why I opened the shop. I just like this sort of thing and always have done. It’s co-incidental in a way.
“People are more aware now. They feel they can do their little bit and it all adds up to a big thing, but it’s something that they can actually do – and on the whole they can afford to do. For example, they can choose a wooden vegetable brush as opposed to a plastic one. There is a price difference – but it is a small amount.
“Not everyone can afford to do everything they want to do environmentally, but tackling plastic is within most people’s scope. It’s something you can chip away at.”
